The Probus Club of St Annes-on-the-Sea
Gerry was born in Preston and began his working life as an apprentice body-builder at Ribble Motors. He had a varied and interesting career which concluded with working for the Post Office, where he was an MoT inspector in charge of a new depot.
His career was brought to an abrupt end when he was 59 when he was hit by a car when crossing the road outside his home. A broken neck and substantial time in hospital forced his early retirement.
He had played table tennis for many years but still kept his interest and became President of the Preston Table Tennis Association which, in 2003, presented him with a Scroll of Honour. He was also much involved with the activities of St. Annes Parish Church, where his funeral service was held on July 8th 2016. He had joined our Probus club in 2010.
