Alexander Maitland Born in Blackpool, in his younger days Alex was interested in cricket and rugby and captained Fylde R U Colts from 1958 to 1960 while in later life he was a keen Crown Green bowler at Ashton Gardens. In 1964 he married Carol and they had a daughter and a son. Most of his working life was spent with the Prudential Insurance Company and when he retired in 2002 he became a magistrate until 2012.
Alex was very interested in local history and for a time, with a friend,
compiled a weekly feature on the subject for the local newspaper. He was
also the author of a book on the topic. He joined Probus in 2014 and was a
